Picking the right Boots

By on August 5, 2010

Fit, comfort and weight are the most important factors here. Generally boots need to fit snugly (but not too tightly). This will ensure you’ll have good control over your board when you twist and turn.

One other thing you need to consider: Laces or Laceless (Boa) boots. Having laces is annoying and they can loosen when you ride, while the Boa option (basically a tension control system you ‘wind’ to tighten your boots) is much more convenient. In our experience the Boa control unit can be a bit uncomfortable at times (it digs into my legs). We still prefer laceless though.

Since you need to try on your boots, we recommend you visit your local store and try on a couple of boots to see what suits your feet.. then buy them from overseas to save :-)

Recommendations
Our recommendation for boots is either DC or K2.. mostly because we all have big wide feet and they are really comfortable.

If you have narrower/smaller feet, try on some Thirty-three boots as well (very popular). Lots of people wear Burton too – but that might be just because of the brand ;-)

If you are looking to buy boots, I’d recommend EVO.com. I bought some K2 T1DB boots from there and saved around $200!

Good luck.
